Independent Film Screenings

The Athens Theatre is primarily seeking feature-length movies that will be shown in a digital format; however, shorter works will also be considered, as shorts will be shown prior to feature presentations.

All filmmakers regardless of hometown are encouraged to apply. However, special consideration will be given to movies that were shot in Florida or that have a significant Florida theme or focus. It is intended that approximately one-third of the movies screened will have a Florida connection. Only English language movies are being accepted at this time.

To support and cultivate the next generation of filmmakers, the Athens Theatre will also host a special student category open to currently enrolled students at the middle, high school, and college levels. Screenings for these student films will be scheduled approximately every four months.
